In the UK, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light , and the front side windows 70%.
There are no restrictions on how dark the rear windows or rear windscreen can be.
At Shade & Shield, we offer tints that comply with UK law and can advise you on the best option for your needs.

Yes to both.
If your wrap changes the colour of the vehicle completely (), you must inform the DVLA so your V5C logbook can be updated. It’s a quick and simple process — just fill in the colour change section and send it off.You should also inform your insurance provider, even if the colour stays the same. A wrap is considered a modification, and not declaring it could affect your cover in the event of a claim. Most insurers just make a note of it — but it’s always best to stay on the safe side.
At Shade & Shield, we’re happy to advise if you’re unsure how to go about it.

In the UK, DRLs can be any colour as long as they don’t mimic emergency service vehicles — so blue and red (especially flashing) are not allowed on the road. However, white and amber are the safest and most commonly accepted for legal road use.
Other colours like purple, green, or RGB setups may be legal in some cases, but they can attract unwanted attention or cause issues during an MOT, depending on how they’re wired and displayed. For full custom DRLs, we recommend using coloured lights for show/off-road use only, and sticking to white or amber for everyday driving to avoid any hassle.
At Shade & Shield, we can advise you on the best setup based on both style and UK regulations.

A high-quality wrap that's properly installed and well looked after can last 5 to 7 years.
The lifespan depends on factors like the quality of the vinyl, how the car is maintained, and how much it's exposed to the sun and weather. Gloss and satin wraps tend to last a bit longer than matte or textured finishes.
At Shade & Shield, we only use premium materials and ensure a clean, professional install — giving your wrap the best chance at long-lasting results. We’ll also give you care tips to help keep it looking fresh for years.

PPF (Paint Protection Film) is a clear, protective film designed to shield your car’s paint from stone chips, scratches, swirl marks, and road debris. It’s usually invisible and preserves the original look of your paint, with self-healing properties on high-end films.
A wrap, on the other hand, is a vinyl layer applied to change the colour or finish of your car — think gloss, satin, matte, chrome, or custom prints. While wraps offer some protection, they’re mainly for styling, not full impact protection.
At Shade & Shield, we offer both — whether you want to protect your paint or completely transform your car’s look.

Detailing is a deep clean and restoration, inside and out. We go beyond surface dirt, removing swirl marks, restoring trim, shampooing interiors, and more. It’s about reviving your car, not just cleaning it.

Our paint correction services can remove light scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation. For deeper scratches, we’ll assess the damage and advise the best solution.
